Technical lead for the chilisleep to sleep.me relaunch: a connected hardware and subscription platform spanning IoT, ecommerce, realtime data, and content. Promoted to Staff Engineer as one of the first two at that level in a 30+ person engineering org.
- Architected and deployed a centralized identity platform on AWS Cognito, unifying authentication across web, mobile, Shopify, public APIs, and IoT devices; it became the foundation every team built on going forward.
- Designed and built a Go based subscription API for the device launch, integrating Shopify payments, Recharge billing, and AWS Lambda services.
- Led the TypeScript / Vue + Nuxt web platform integrating sleep tracking data, device management, CMS, subscriptions, and headless Shopify commerce, with a strong focus on performance and SEO.
- Implemented a serverless content API layer that reduced CMS infrastructure cost and improved global response latency.
- Partnered with Product, Marketing, and Operations leadership to align platform architecture with launch and revenue goals.
Led the design, rebuild, and scaling of the company's core commerce platform.
- Directed a full rebuild of legacy systems into a modern Laravel backend, public API, standalone Vue frontend, and order processing platform.
- Enabled revenue growth from $1.1M to $12M+ annually within five years of platform launch.
- Built a custom ecommerce engine supporting 600K+ product SKUs and complex customer account management.
- Automated order dispatch across 13 production facilities in the US and Canada through third party API integrations.
- Owned AWS infrastructure and DevOps strategy (EC2, ECS, CloudFront, ALB, S3, SQS, SES, monitoring); mentored engineers and advised executive leadership on platform strategy and operational scaling.
Contract engineering and DevOps alongside my full time roles.
